Eating notes: This is a small fungus but can be found in large groups, making it worthwhile to collect. Selected only those where the gills are still white. They need to be refrigerated quickly and cooked within 24hrs (otherwise they will deliquesce).

Description

Cap: 2-4cm, Bell-shaped. Expanding slightly with age. Ochre but slightly darker towards the centre. Often radially grooved. The cap is covered with glistening powder.

Gills: White. Becoming black and deliquescing with age.

Stem: White, slender, hollow.

Spores: Black

Flesh: White and thin

Habitat: On dead and buried wood.

Frequency: Very Common
